Humans generally dislike or fear supernatural beings. Their level of disdain is dictated by how dangerous a particular supernatural is to their own existence. The safety of the supernatural being is often dependent on their ability to conceal their existence from the human world.
 

Briar Ridge is, however, a safe haven for all. Disguise charms known as 'glamours' can be dispelled, and the supernatural can exist as they are meant to without fear of derision or apprehension.
