Nestled in a forested valley extending into endless woods, hidden away through a temporal rift is the private castle campus of Briar Ridge University. This esteemed university focuses in on being a sanctuary and educator of 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. Briar Ridge encouraged peace and integration between human and supernatural beings.
These educators dedicate their time to ensuring that students are capable of controlling their abilities and learning whatever they need to live their lives outside of the academy as any regular human would do if that is their goal. The Headmaster of the academy is an unknown figure, seen and heard by no single member of the student body or faculty.
THE COMMON ROOM
A general area where students can socialise in spare time, or enjoy a reading space other than the university library. Books, and rainy day activities are located within the many shelves including games such as chess and various others. The student common room is situated at the base of the student dormitory towers and overlooks the lake, comfy chairs, tables for those whishing to study, and a large fireplace make this corner of the castle a cozy get away for students.
THE CONSERVATORY
Sandwiched between the drawing room and the common room is the conservatory. A large room with beautiful floor to ceiling glass work windows encasing the room in a warm sunny glow on a warmer day and on the gloomier days a wonderful place to observe the grey skies over the lake as the rain pitter patters against the glass ceilings.
The conservatory is full of greenery and plant life, a deep round pool is built into the farthest alcove of the room, a cat walk surrounding it from the top if one wishes to stroll about the conservatory and observe the lake. This deep pool while only about 20 ft in diameter runs deep underground to the lake making it a favorite of merfolk to easily get from castle to the lake without having to trudge back very far after their swim.
Parlor and Billiard
On the floor above the conservatory is the parlor, a quiet sitting room with cozy couches, a large fire place and a marvelous view of Serpent Lake. If you have time to kill between classes and don’t wish to travel down to the first floor commons this is the ideal space to take a moment or study between classes.
Or perhaps if you fancy a game of billiards the far end of the room has a few tables for those who fancy the game.
THE LIBRARY
While the first floor of the East wing is the site of the hospital wing the 4 floors above it is home to Briar Ridge’s near-endless library. The library hosts an incredible and diverse collection of books lining shelves that filled all four floors of the library.
Large windows with views of the forest provide a serene view for those within the library. At the centre as well as scattered throughout are large wood tables for those to read or study in peace. There is a single tower of the library that is usually off limits due to the contents of those particular books being deemed inappropriate for general students. Requests may be filed through the administration to gain access however it is seldom given.
